Starting the air conditioner causes a surge--the generator would trip out. But with the hybrid inverter, you can "cap" the input at 13 amps and the extra power needed will be drawn from the battery bank. That means the generator can be run in eco mode, too.
OK, so it's a genius-level transfer switch. :B
