I agree. The OP says he plans to go off the grid most vacations.
In which case built in and solar are the way to go.
Otherwise there will be constant setup,carrying, and dealing with gensets in one fashion or another.
Portables are a lot more work anyway you slice it.
Maybe too late but did new rig come with generator prep option?

I'm wanting a portable inverter generator to run 13,500 AC and connect to another generator to run a 15,000 AC? not both at the same time of course.
