Generators and Inverters

We have been looking at 5ers a lot recently and I noticed only one we saw had a generator and none of then m had an Inverter.
What do u guys do for any kind of power when over-nighting at a Rest Area, Walmart or Truck Stop?
  • Most 5ers come with a battery that allows all the 12v stuff to work. We will use our batteries for up to a week of dry camping. A bit tougher if you need heat or AC.
  • Not surprised none had both. Most with a generator would never use the inverter, just run the generator when they need 120 volt ac.

But to answer your question, I have an 1800 watt inverter type generator as well as a 400 watt msw inverter. When going boondocking, I use the generator. My needs for power require neither for a single overnight.
  • I added four 6 volt GC batteries, three 160 watt solar panels, and a 2,000 watt PSW inverter. But if you are only spending one night you should be able to get by with a pair of 6 volt batteries. It all depends on what you need to power at night.
