Generators

II own a 2010 cougar 327res that is wired for 50amp service. I currently have a 1 Honda eu2000 companion. Going to buy the other 2000 over the winter. My question is if I buy a second 2000 companion and get a 50 amp plug with two 30amp heads vrs the one 30 amp plug and running the two units together? I have a line on a 2000 companion for half the price of a new one.. Thanks
  • I have that same camper but I just bought mine, 2014 Cougar 327RES. Mine is 50amp as well but I made a 30amp cord for mine to use with my Champion 3100 inverter. I just put a 50amp plug on the end of a 30amp cord and jumped the black (hot) wire to feed both sides. I only have one AC unit and had no problems with the inverter running a single 15000btu AC unit on my old camper so I should be ok on the new camper as well.

You better check with Honda. I don't know how they would divide the load on a setup like that. It's designed for 1 30a outlet and 2 generators supplying it. Not 2 generators and 2 30a outlets. I would guess the adapter cord wouldn't work with 2 companions.

    Who knows???

  • Who not just parallel them with the Honda cables? You could run one, the other, or both depending on load - as in alternate them most of the time to even out the maintance or to refuel, fire up both for the AC.

This is what I am thinking. Just seeing if it will work better with 2 30 amp outlets vrs one?

Check out this site and see if any of the DMBRUSS ADAPTERS is what you are looking for. Be sure to observe the schematics of the adapters to see if the male or female plugs will fit what you are looking for.

    DMBRUSS ADAPTERS

Apparently the web site has an error and will not enlarge this adapter of interest

The one rule that comes to mind is never have an open MALE plug that is energized. They will kill you.
