Next time before you start it, take off the air cleaner and while starting it observe the choke plate. If it is closed all the way and its running ruff, manually(gently)open it up slightly (with finger or screwdriver) in a progressive way slowly more and more, and see if the roughness clears up. Might need to blip the throttle slightly to unlock the choke if the plate won't move open easy, don't remember its linkage type.
If not running better with above procedure, try to choke the carb (7/8 closed) with your hand and see if it clears up.
That should tell you if its a choke adjustment or binding/sticky linkage or a clogged(partially)low speed jet, or tight valves, or plugs/wires.
