True. But when the unit is marked up 45-50% plus manufacture to dealer discount and you offer them 35% of their MSRP for the unit I believe you have offered a fair deal.
They would be making at least 10% on the deal.
I have seen lots of invoices and paperwork for dealers from manufacturers. Markups are all over the place. I have seen them as low as 32% as high as 55% and I would say average is 45%.
I just had a salesman the other day exclaim that they were going to lose money on a offer that they gave to me. Really? How do you stay in business if you are losing money?
Same dealer sold me a unit 2 years ago at 45% off the msrp and that was out the door. All I had to do was tell them I was going somewhere else to deal and they lowered the price instantly.
That was in February though and a left over model.
