I have always heard that you should return the torque wrench to 0 after each use. I have Snap on and Matco torque wrenches and also a digital calibrator. Over the last 20 years or so I have not seen any difference in the rated torque from not resetting them to 0.
One of the guys we camp with has a newer trailer and we had some galling issues when changing a low tire. It turned out the lug nuts were very poor quality and the lugs were the problem not the stud. Maybe helpful info maybe not but I thought I would share my experience.
I have used a small amount of anti seize on studs before. Lots of folks will have issue with that but I have never had a stud failure in any of my vehicles so I guess I am just lucky or the anti seize is not as big of a problem as some would say.
