Goodyear has struggled greatly in the past with every tire they have used on motorhomes and trailers. Poor design for the job is evident as the Marathons....Wrangler HT......G614 all used on trailers and all three had to be redesigned because they were coming apart prematurally.
The G159 may not have had the benefit of a redesign over all these years.
Lots of press about the G159 right now ....some pointing to a recall which will happen only if enough pressure from consumer groups is put on DOT/NHTSA.
Sadly One thing that has helped bring the G159 to this point is deaths and injuries.
A blowout or run flat on a trailer... many folks never notice. At nite I always watched for the spark show when the tire shredded down to the steel rims. Quite a show at 65 mph on a concrete highway.
With no deaths or injuries NHTSA simply doesn't care about damaged rvs as evident the many ST tire complaints dropped from their complaints website every few years.
