Gooseneck to fifth wheel adapter

I just got a fifth wheel. Now I need to move it. I don't have a truck right now. I was going to have my brother move it because I know he had a gooseneck. I thought thy were the same. Now I know better. I was wanting people's experience with using an adapter vs converting to a fifth wheel hitch. I have a 75 holiday ramble w/ no slides. I only plan to move it like 3 times and then sell it.

  • The cost of a goose neck adapter is only about 25% less than the cost of a 5th wheel hitch, so for now I would look for someone with a fiver hitch to move it for you. On down the road, when you get your truck, buy a fiver hitch, it will be the same money, or maybe a little less, than purchasing a goose neck hitch AND the adapter.
  • Hire out the move; someone nearby should be able to help you out. Bound to cost less than a hitch or adapter. As a last resort contact an RV dealer and they may move it for you.
  • This is what I'm using.

Advantage, it hooks to any gooseneck ball (not just B&W, etc), doesn't add the additional stress of a gn adapter, and it's pretty light to get in and out by yourself. Also, with the adapter on the pin box, it acts like a theft deterrent.
  • I converted mine & have had no problems at all & I have a 37ft weighing over 13k.
  • just look on craigs list(sold mine there) or ebay.
Its not a big deal ,I only switched cause my new truck has a taller bed and I couldnt see to hook up.
I bet if if gave a little more detail as to where you are, somebody here close to you might move it for some fuel/meal
  • This is a weekly question. If you truely intend to move it only a couple of times then sell it, I would hire someone to move it if you don't know someone.
The hitch would cost you $500-1000.
