Sometimes Insurance Companies will do their own estimate then send you a check for that amount. Then if the Repair Shop finds more damages they will step up.

So IMHO get an estimate of your own to compare to the Ins Companies Estimate. Once confronted with another Estimate they most likely will adjust the amount they pay you. Once I had this happen and the Ins Estimate was accurate except they had $60 per hour labor and the Estimate was $120. They changed their Estimate and sent me a check for the new amount.
