fj12 - I've done the math, looked at the differences in 1 ton vs. 3/4 ton SRW trucks, asked for and got good feedback from everyone from my original post. To me it comes down to what do you feel safe with on the road with your most prized possession's (family) sitting in the cab with you on trips to go have some family fun. With that said, I wish when I was originally buying my truck to tow the 5,000# bumper pull trailer that I had at the time, that I would have gone ahead and bought a 1 ton SRW. I never thought about buying the 5th wheel I now have until I saw it at the Spring RV show in SLC. My hindsight is 20/20. If I was full timing it, I would own at the very minimum a 1 ton DRW. We go out about once every 2 - 3 weeks during the season and mostly for the weekend. We are blessed here in UT with an abundance of camping options that are within an hour to 4 hours away which is great for the long weekend trips we like to do. Thanks for your input. I don't disagree with anything you or any of the other responders have posted. Honestly, I am more worried about the Towmax tires that came on the Spartan than my trucks ability to handle the load going down the road. I will address that issue in the near future!
