It is a two step process. I think the first step is epoxy based with the second being two coats of some kind of very thick polymer. It goes on liquid and cures to a pretty stout feeling rubberized surface. I believe they would have done the slides with an extra charge but I didn't think it necessary since my slides aren't out in the sun much. Maybe I should have but I didn't.
