Absolutely it can be walked on. It's much more stout than the original rubber roof. You first would want to make sure all roof components are sound and in good condition because though they remain replaceable it would require resealing around whatever vent or skylight you replaced. They really put a lot of work into the seals around vents and skylights or anywhere else there is a penetration. It has much more polymer put on at all seams plus some kind of fiber mesh, perhaps fiber glass, that is embedded in the polymer. You have the choice of having them remove the ACs and replacing the AC seals or sealing up to the seals. I choose not to pull the ACs because both were new (less than a year old) and the roof under them is never exposed to sunlight. It's $150 dollars extra to remove the AC.
