There are a few "lite" and now "x lite" models from various manufacturers who have started marketing them as "half ton towable." All I know is not my half ton. I'm now running a 2500.

We were looking around one day and were directed by a salesman to a row of 5ers that he said, "All of those are half ton towable." None had GVWR of less than 11,500, and all shipped at more than 9000.
