Hauling a Harley

I don't my trailer is pretty low, but some of the Fivers can get pretty steep. Your right about the wheel chock, if it's not bolted to the floor or in a bracket it will scoot along the floor when your trying to back out..

Not to hijack the thread, but a couple of pertinent questions.
Anyone have a problem loading a low height m/c like a softtail, as far as high centering it due to a steep angle on the ramp?
I use a Harbor Freight wheel chock in my small trailer and loading it is fine, but when trying to pull it out it's very hard to get the wheel out.

Sounds like your rear tiedowns are OK if they are attached to the frame. On the front, you can just leave whats there already (and not use them), and install some heavy-duty rings, using a backing plate for each one. That way all you have to do is drill through the floor using the new rings as a template, and assemble it. Look and plan before you drill, make sure you're clear and can get to them underneath. Don't rely on some mickey mouse D-ring set in there with just screws. Use one of the drive-in chocks like the previously mentioned Condor (best...), or Harbor Freights cheapy that is on sale a lot at $45-50. Both will work fine. Tie down the bike with two straps on the front to the frame -never the handlebars- using soft straps around the frame. I often place a piece of 4x6 under the frame and tie the bike down on that so the forks don't get compressed much. If you do that, all you need in the rear is one strap going from one rear tie down, loop around the rear wheel at the bottom, and then to the other rear tie down. Keeps the rear of the bike from jumping around.

Have hauled a bunch of bikes in toy haulers and regular trailers, no problems when doing it this way. When you stop for fuel, look in the rear and check the straps for tightness.

I have my Toy Hauler setup for my Harley or a second bike. I can put it on the right side, middle or left. I put it on the right side. I don't worry about the few hundred pounds from it being in the center or not. Plus the kitchen and bathroom are on the left so it could be offset anyway. If I put the bike on the one side of the garage I can still use half the garage ie couch, dog crate (he likes to go along and insists on taking his crate)

The pacific coachworks tiedowns are setup for quads not a harley. If I put my bike using the tiedowns up front it would be off to one side. I need to have it in the center for the weight distrubution.

You don't have tiedowns in the right spot, or not enough tiedowns?

you know there is another way to go, have you looked into E Track? I installed 3, 8 foot strips in my Toy Hauler. Used 1/4 inch carrage bolts with fender washers and nuts on bottom about every 6 inches and in each of four holes at the ends of the strips. You get many differrent tie down points and if you go on the E Track web site lots of accessories.
