- BedlamModeratorYou can but need to take these factors in consideration:
1. Does the TH have sufficient capacity for your car and all your gear
2. Is the loading ramp rated for your car weight
3. Beyond physical dimensions of fitting in the garage, can you get in and out of the car when it is inside
4. Are the stock tie downs sufficiently rated to hold down your car
5. Is the ramp approach and break over angle mild enough to clear your car
You may be better off looking at toy haulers based off enclosed car carriers. They have a low load floor and better payload capacity. InTech and Feather Lite have nice interiors in their living quarters and also offer slides verses the more utilitarian race trailers you may have seen. Look at the living quarters offered in some horse trailers to see the interior possibilities. - Trailblazer87ExplorerI have put a Jeep Cherokee in mine, but it was built for that purpose. The ramp is very heavy and the trailer frame rather thick plus triple axle. I would think the break over angle would enjoy too much for a Smart Car.A smart car weighs nearly a ton, that's a lot for most toy hauler. The other consideration is the length of the garage, mine is just under 15' long but a lot was sacrificed for that on a 31' trailer, like a dinette and kitchen space.
It seems most trailers were designed to be near their limits weight wise. I wouldn't think you could put much in the way of gear or any water if you did try it. Also need to look at the tow rig, make sure it can handle the extra weight. If everything adds up I would want to make sure the engine if the smart car is over or very near the axles of the trailer. - azdryheatExplorerA smart car would easily fit in my 10' garage. The ramp and garage are both rated for 3,000 pounds so that's not an issue. I weighed my trailer with some water and almost equipped for a trip and it was 2,500 pounds under gross weight. With that it seems the smart car's 2,000 pound weight wouldn't be an issue. Each tie-down is rated for 2,500 pounds so strapping the thing down also wouldn't be an issue. I guess if I ever gave up my Harley the smart car could be an option.
- tinner12002ExplorerThe DRVs tend to sit a little lower than most toy haulers so you shouldn't have a breakover issue. I think I would use a couple pcs of alum treadplate the length of the door and about 18" wide just to spread the weight of the tire track out a bit when loading and unloading....weight shouldn't be an issue inside as most are rated to haul #3000 in the cargo area.
- DennisVRExplorerI load a SmartCar in our 40' Fuzion. It worked out great for us on our trip from Calif. to Florida this last winter. Put 7000 miles on truck and 3000 miles on Smart.
- lincsterExplorerHow much does a smartcar weigh? 2500lbs maybe?
I put my 2800lb Sandrail in and out of my hauler all the time.
I think approach angle is more of a concern, but it can be rectified also. - BedlamModeratorSome toy haulers only have about 3000 lbs payload capacity yet carry over 1000 lbs of water. Once you load personal gear and supplies, you may not have enough reserve for more than scooters and even a portly full dress Harley may take you over...
My Weekend Warrior had about 4000 lbs capacity when dry and I was typically within 500 lbs of the 11,500 lb GTWR. - DennisVRExplorer

Here's what I found for weight specs.
Weights and Capacities
Curb weight: 1,808 lbs.
Gross vehicle weight: 2,247 lbs.
Max cargo capacity: 12 cu.ft.
Payload: 507 lbs
I backed it in the first time I loaded it and when I drove it out the front air dam scraped on the ground a bit. I now drive it in forward and don't scrap going in or out. - lincsterExplorer

LOL. If it physically fits, I wouldn't think twice of putting that thing in a toyhauler.
That weight is nothing compared to what I have loaded.
I have put my sand rail and 2 full size quads inside.
That was pushing 3600lbs. - DennisVRExplorerIf you put all that in your TH, then the Smart should be no problem. I think the Smart is about 8'9" long and about 5' wide. I have a 12' garage and I have a lot of space to move around with it inside. I'm 6'3" tall and I drive it in the middle of the garage and have enough room to get in & out without the door rubbing the wall.
Not knowing the size of your sand rail, I would guess the Smart is a lot smaller.
