I'm not concerned with actual capacity versus advertised, but I have found it useful to know how far off the gauges are. For example, I found it very helpful to know that (in the case of my previous trailer) the black tank was only 2/3 full when it indicated FULL, and only 1/2 full when it indicated 2/3. There were similar but not as severe discrepancies with the grey tanks and fresh water tank.
I do not view the time I took to "calibrate" my gauges as a waste of my time.
