Heading to Pigeon Forge, TN

5 years ago our family decided to go to Pigeon Forge for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed it so much that we have gone every year since and it has become a tradition. We will arrive on Wednesday and go have Thanksgiving dinner at the Old Mill restaurant on Thursday - what a spread of food. Usually head out early on Black Friday to see if there's anything we feel we just simply can't live without. For me that's easy - it's convincing my wife and daughter of that. At the end of the day were back at the camper ready to fire up the grill. While I'm grilling my son is getting the campfire ready. What a nice way to end the day. As Sunday approaches and it's time to head home it's kinda bittersweet. This is generally our last trip for the season so when we get home I will clean the camper and winterize it. As I'm cleaning it for the last time - I'm so thankful for another wonderful season of memories that were created. I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. Until next season - happy camping !!!
  • Be sure you understand and are aware of Veterans Blvd. This can save you hours of bumper to bumper stop and go traffic through Pigeon Forge. We camp at Sevierville and take Veterans Blvd south to Teester Blvd and come right in to the Old Mill area. You need some good maps!! Traffic and crowds in the Smoky Mts cannot be avoided but at least you now have some optional ways of beating some of it!!
  • We will be just north of Pigeon Forge in Cosby TN for Thanksgiving with Family and Friends

It going to be COLD !!!
  • It's been a recent tradition for us too, but we just cancelled last week due to friends cancelling and the weather. It's hit or miss at Thanksgiving. Enjoy your trip! Half of me regrets cancelling.

We have been going to this area since the early 70's - Seems like all of our trails go thru Gatlinburg TN...

Great place to go anytime of the year...

  • We have gone to PF for the last 5 years, but this year, we decided we had to go visit the son. He has lived in the Louisville area for over 3 years and we have not been up there at all - he comes here.

We have done dinner in the RV, Golden Corral, Cracker Barrel and at the Old Mill. Make sure you know some of the back roads for getting in and out of the area.
  • I just got back from Pigeon Forge this past weekend. The choices for food and shopping are endless, but the crowd puts a damper on it for me. Never a slow season for that part of TN
  • Good times, spent NEW YEARS there, was a great holiday.

Went out into the Smokey's for some hikes and site-seeing, chilled in town, and camped!

Currently packing up for Thanksgiving in Charleston, SC, for the holiday.:B

    Have a Great Thanksgiving!
