Heartland "Bighorn " ?

We are looking into getting another 5er and it must have bath & a half. Our preferred dealer has 3 , a Bighorn and Jayco Pinnacle & Eagle. We have a 2011 Jayco now and it's been a pretty trouble free rig plus our local dealer was great on the few warranty issues we had .
For Heartland owners, have they been good reliable units ? Price wise it's between the Eagle & Pinnicle . This maybe what we will be living in as we are thinking of selling the house & moving onto our acerage we have setup now. Thanks.
  • I would be real careful about Heartland. A good friend of ours bought a 40' Heartland with an MSRP of about $125,000. He had 48 warranty issues in less than a year. At the end of the first year, he got rid of it. After many talks with Heartland, he told me that that company has pretty much no quality control inspection, and leaves it up to the dealer to make sure the trailer is in good working order. FYI: He has a fantastic dealer who helped him all they could.

    I wouldn't buy a heartland.

We love our Heartland and could easily live full time in it. OP could probably use reasons you'd not buy a Heartland rather than blanket statement, particularly if you haven't owned one.
OK let's see I work on them
Lost count on electrical fires in them . lost count on how many accounts units I have replaced on the heartland brand I just replaced two on two units this week. They seem to have the most cases of wall delamination than any other brand I have seen. So you see one I see a volume of them is why I will not buy one

    What’s is a accounts units?

  • Over on the Jayco Owners forum people are becoming disappointing in the quality of Jayco since the Thor buyout.
Or maybe it's just a sign of the times. Most MFG's are banging them out as fast as they can trying to capture as much of the market boom as possible before the next downturn.
There's absolutely no way to tell if you'll get a semi trouble free 5th wheel theses days.
  • There is a web-site that gives monthly updates on RV recalls, however I can’t recall it name right now! I sure an internet search, could provide it. It’s pretty enlightening, as to the quality or lack there of of some of the products being produced!
