Help! Need advice! New to RVing

We are new into rving and have not yet made a purchase. I would like any and all suggestions anyone can offer. The 5th wheel we are looking at is a 2018 42ft Forest River Sandpiper 383. It has 2 ac units and 4 slides. What additions or packages should we consider and are there any particular questions we need to ask the dealer? Are sandpipers good quality?

  • Most people like them. For their price they seem to be OK.
Only real advise I can offer you is be sure you have enough truck to handle the GVWR of the trailer. PDI is absolutely paramount. Do a close inspection of everything. A word of advise, video your PDI walk through.
  • I hope you have some towing experience already. If not that's a huge trailer to learn on. I don't know if you have a truck to pull it yet either but you will be solidly in diesel dually territory with a trailer that size.
No matter what you ask the dealer just remember their main objective is to get you to buy the trailer. I find that I often know more about a product than the salesman because I've already researched it.
