Hello,I'm looking into replacing my manual sliding hitch with either the Reese Sidewinder/Revolution pinbox or the Pullrite Superglide hitch and would like to hear from those of you that are using them and the pro/cons of each. Before you ask, yes I did crunch my cab with the fifth wheel and although my manual slider hitch has been great I did not even see it coming when I did this, so I'd like to prevent it from happening again.I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on the Superglide, but the one thing that concerns me is the 10 degree limitation on hitching and unhitching. My RV is 40ft and there are times where I can see needing to hitch or unhitch at a sharper angle. The sidewinder appears to be up to 90 degrees if needed. Thanks in advance for your input.

Had the Superglide on our previous fiver and didn't really care for it, always gave me trouble hitching up and unhitching. If I had to choose between the two, I would lean towards the sidewinder. Although, I have read comments from others that love the Superglide. My next truck will have a full size bed and I plan on using the Anderson hitch system.

I have the Super Glide works ok but I am new to FW's. I added a Blue ox bed saver so it takes a little adjusting to hook up to clear the bed saver. I had to do some adjustments to keep it from moving around when not hooked up

I have the SuperGlide and it works for me. Never even think about if can I clear this or do I need to stop and slide it out. I struggled with unhitching at first but realized it works every time if I do not take all the load off the hitch before I pull the handle. Once I was at too much of an angle and had to pull the four pins to release the head from the base. Once seperated the head released from the pin box and I put it back together. As far as it sliding while not towing I connect a bungee cord from the head to a tie down in the bed. That solved that. I have no experience with the sidewinder.

I went from a manual slider to a Superglide early last year. Have not had a problem hitching, I get it lined up and have the pinbox a little lower that the hitch so it pushes the bed down slightly. On releasing, I've had a few times I haven't been able to pull the release handle until I got back in the cab and backed up enough to take the pressure of the connection. I haven't had the sidewinder to comment on it.

I have the Reese Sidewinder and am very pleased with it. When I am 90 degrees to rig, I have 9" clearance to my rear window. You can hook up at an angle as long as you back straight into the kingpin at the same angle as pin box.

Simple fix ....sell the truck & get one with the 5th wheel prep :S....see where there's a will ...there's a way.... ain't life grand when you have options..

I have a Husky manual sliding hitch and I really like it. I never have problems hitching or unhitching. It locks into place very easily and dis-engages just as nicely. I'm sure Reese makes good hitches, but I've seen a couple of friends struggle with theirs at times. I'm planning on buying the stationary legs to convert the Husky to a non-sliding as I was told the Sidewinder should not be used with a sliding hitch even if it is in the normal, locked position.

I've used Reese hitches and found them very hard to hitch and unhitch. Replaced it with a Super Glide and loved it. Read the instructions so you will hitch and unhitch correctly. This makes it all easier. If you do need to unhitch or hitch at more then 10% just pull to simple pins and lift head of hitch off. Works fine. I used this hitch several years and loved it. Bought a long bed so went to B&W puck hitch. Thats the best hitch ever.

I went with the SG the Side Winder did not have a unit to fit my pin box. gave them a call and that was the answer. I think I would have prefered it if it was available. but no problems with the SG for several years now.

I can turn mine if I eat my wheaties.Most times not.You will like it a lot.Just get the right wedge for your hitch.The universal works,but not as well.My hitch is a Reese 16k and it works well on it.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Although the Pullrite looks great and their owners love them I am leaning towards the Sidewinder for a couple of reasons. The biggest being the 10 degree hitching/unhitching (I verified this) problem with the superglide. I know I could not hitch up right now where I am parked. The other benefits I see for the sidewinder include less weight and more bed space.

I choose the sidewinder over superglide due to weight and simplicity, among other things. I like FASW but:

I cannot turn the turret by hand. It was properly greased and torqued according to spec. In effect this gives you close to 0 degree for hitching, because of the wedge.
Luckily, there are ways around this if this happens when hitching.
I have read several posts where some folks have had problems turning the turret by hand, many can.

I have the Side winder and really like it.It was a necessity with a 5 1/2' bed.No down sides that I have found in a year and a half.Now have a 6 1/2' bed and will continue to use it.
