Help with NEW bunkhouse.....

I currently have a Cardinal 40' bunkhouse 2006 and would like to upgrade to a newer one. I've been looking at leftover 2014's and 2015's.

A local dealer (Reines RV) has a Grand Design Reflexion (37') and I'm looking at another one a couple hours away (RV Outlet USA) a Keystone Montana Mountaineer (41')

The Reflexion is very nice looking but no king bed, second ac, 6 point level, or second bathroom. The Montana has all the above but no outside kitchen like the reflexion and little to no kitchen counter space. Also most of these new ones I look at have gone to larger refer's but not this Montana, still that very small one.

Any thoughts on these two and of course I'm open to any other models you can think of. I'm trying to be 37 to 41 feet and weight isn't an issue. Thanks!

  • I have a Reflexion bunkhouse on order. We too would have liked the second toilet, however such things push the weight past the point of no return for comfortable towing with our F250 diesel truck.

And Grand Design has engineered their Reflexion line not to require a 1 ton dual rear wheel truck for towing. Some of us just don't care to live with duallys on a day to day basis.

Their much more expensive Solitude would be more like most Cardinals in quality, however they don't offer a bunkhouse in it. Grand Design is an upcoming company with over 1000 fivers built in their first 18 mos. in business.
  • How old are your kids? We ended up getting a Montana front lounge unit after my 16 year old said, "please, no more bunks." For the last three years she slept on the pull out couch instead of her bunk whenever we went camping.

My husband prefers using the portable grill over an outside kitchen and we all prefer more inside space.
  • Hopefully you will go with the Grand Design because you can't get any better customer service at any of the dealers in Northern Virginia than you will get at Reines. I have never been let down by Reines. They have gone out of their way, far beyond what I have expected to take care of me when I have needed them. Hopefully, your experience will be as good as mine.

  • No 2nd A/C on that size 5th wheel would be a deal breaker for me while I would happily give up my outdoor kitchen for increased bunk room space.
