HELP WITH TIRES

I am buying a new toyhauler that has trailer king tires on it. I told the dealer I do not like the trailer king brand and after negotiating he agreed to put goodyear marathons on for $150 more total. I know that most of you will say don't put either one on but if you had to pick would you pay more to have the goodyears.

Another question my last trailer had a gross weight of 12000 lbs and the new one has a gross weight of 17000lbs and both trailers use the same size tires and same ply. Does that make sense.

Silly question. Was the earlier trailer a tandem axle and the new trailer a triple axle?

    No both tandem

Well if it were me at 17K gross I'd invest in a good set of 17.5 tires and wheels to get the higher rating tires. I'm wondering also if you have #7K axles now, that leaves you with a #3K pin, Unless your pin is way higher then your RV is loaded to max before you put anything in it in my math.
  • Check your wheels to see if they are rated for 110#. If they are, then there's no reason to go to 17.5 wheels as you can easily get G rated tires in a 16". 15" I'm not so sure.

Is it just a bit strange to hear of a 17k tandem trailer?
