Hi guys, new guy looking for cold weather toy hauler

I'm in the market for a toy hauler, as much as I hate the cold I would need to spend a few weeks in 0 Fahrenheit or colder night temps working out in the great white north. The diesel dodge will pull either a 5th wheel or bumper, my only requirement is to fit 2 quads in the back. I drive a lot of logging and dirt roads so a cheaper not so pretty unit would be preferable. On this road twice now I had an atv break straps, first 2 then 3 and once came off my trailer so sturdy construction or a better frame is a must. Is there anything older factory made for extreme cold temperatures?

Anybody have a fireplace in a camper?

I'm kind of in the build your own camp too. With about 200,000 btu/hr of heat capability.

    Signed - a sometimes winter RV'r.

Perhaps the Kimberly Stove? Excellent performer and a top quality product. Expensive though. Videos of installs on boats and campers.

  • Build what you want, nothing mass produced works worth dang in anything much below 25 degrees. I'd start with a HD cargo trailer or a Featherlite aluminum trailer and build from there. Then you can control how its built , for example, I'd order 9' side wall and then build a false floor inside to put my tanks and such on, much better way to control the cold, stray foam insulation, dual pane windows, your AC and a furnace. Could be built on either a bumper pull or GN hitch. I'd look at air ride with the kind of off roading you do.
