I have the non-slider Patriot, I happen to have a cable lock that works perfect for this. I feed it through the front rails then up and around the front of the head pivot point. Everything is locked together and there is no interference with movement.
Like other have said, if you really want it they'll take it, but it will make someone think twice.

I would highly advise a Padlock on the handle instead of the pin. There are jerks out there.
