Question: If there was enough force to crush the 16k hitch...did the front of the 5th wheel get destroyed? Did you have the frame checked out?
So I take it you know more about their hitches than the manufacturers do...good way to get somebody killed!! Please for all our safety sake OP, make sure the hitch you buy is rated for at least the max weight of your RV you have or intend to get! Sorry for the second comment on this but that has to be the most ignorant statement I've read!
