Holiday breakdown

Well left aug 2nd for 10 days in Kelowna B.C.
2003 GMC 2500HD 6.0 litre gas, overheated on Hwy 97c because a new hose I put on blew off, which I did not notice, motor went into limp mode warning it was overheating, did go into displaying overheat, got over top to a safe place to stop, was adding water and realized it was coming out, so put better clamp on.
Then once started the starter would not stop, shut off And undid cable, and restarted and started kept spinning, eventually I think the battery was dying, but I undid cable again, so a 81 km tow to Midas that the BCAA tow guy recommends and all they did was change starter and all seems good again.
I swore that engine should have been gone.

I should add I am running on Carlisle tires that are at least five years old and have sat for at least two years and no problems.

Were you trying to kill the truck?

No, but still can't believe it could survive this episode.

I would replace those Carlisle's with anything else.

    X2.

Dodged a bullet with the truck. Using those trailer tires is pushing your luck, IMHO.
  • Had an oil change done as the wife was worried, even though midas said not to worry.
Of course when we overheated, she saw it activated the change oil message.
