Hot Water Heater Cut-Off Valve

I have a 1991 Alpenlite, 29', RLSB 5T that we recently purchased. I can't find any schematics for the piping layout and need to shut off the water to the hot water heater. I was told that there is a shut-off valve, but I can't find it. Does anybody know where it might be?

Ahh..lol. yes, cold water heater. Anywho... I checked behind the heater, which took forever looking in every nook and cranie. There is no shut off valve. Oh well. I was hoping to be able to work on it for a few days without having to shut off the water to the whole plumbing. Thanks for the help.

how about shutting down the water to the camper, open a faucet to drain off pressure, remove the water heater, and install a shutoff valves on the inlet and outlet pipes .... by doing so you can use the camper while working on the water heater

  • I doubt a heater that old would have a valve. Cost you know. Old plumbers joke. "why do you want to heat hot water"
  • back of the heater if there is on that old of trailer may not have one
  • Shut off valves for water heaters are located on the backside of water heater tank (inside RV).

    MFG. use different ways......
Some use just 1 valve (3 way valve) on cold inlet with a check valve in hot outlet

Some use 2 valves.......one on cold inlet, a bypass valve (connects cold/hot lines) and a check valve in hot outlet

Now you just need to find the backside of your WH tank..and which valve system you have :B
