Here is how I get my truck lined up. When hitched look in your windshield rear view mirror. Find a spot on the trailer you can see easy. Put a small piece of electrical tape near that spot dead center of the trailer. Now when looking at that spot through the mirror put a small piece of electrical tape on the rear window of the truck dead center of the window in line with the spot on the trailer. Now put a small piece of tape on the rear view mirror that is in line with the truck rear window and the spot on the trailer. Now when ever you back to the trailer just line up the three spots like aiming a gun. You will be dead on every time and if the trailer pin is at the correct height the pin should go into the hitch with very little error. I stop when the pin is just inside the truck bed and make sure my pin height is correct and that I am in line with the hitch but this would not be necessary if you are sure the pin height is correct. I also have the mirror on my trailer to watch the last couple feet. But the mirror does not work well to get lined up as when you can see things in the mirror it is too late for any significant corrections. And many trailer fronts are not at a good angle for the mirror. Most of the new trailers have the mirror as standard equipment.
