I think if I had to go through the rigeramole the OP mentioned I would probably start looking to trade in for a TT.
I was thinking MH after reading the full issue described.
Pulling a small car would seem much easier.
Except for the fact that it is slightly inconvenient to hook up I love my current set up. In the grand scheme of things the number of times I expect to hook and un-hook will consume a small fraction of my travels, many times I'll just stop for a few days with the truck still hooked up and when I do unhook it could be weeks till I hook back up again. After a 30 year hiatus from Rving I started back up in 2010 starting with a slide in truck camper which was traded for a 2006 Jayco 5th wheel, and 3 weeks ago I traded the Jayco for this 2009 Holiday Rambler Alumascape. I am not even going to think about trading this in for a long time. As far as I am concerned this set up will be perfect for the trip I am planning in late fall early winter. My trip to NY is 90% business 10% pleasure. Once I finish clearing out the house in NY I am selling I am going visit friends and relatives in NY and CT some of which I haven't seen in the past 7 years since I moved from NY. I may take a few short weekend trips this summer but if things work out I am going to a trip I expected to take 4 years ago, I have a child hood friend in AZ I have not seen in 20 years and a cousin in Utah I haven't seen in way more that 20 years.
Maybe next year I may get to Alaska
This camper is bigger than the first apartment I lived in when I got married so I expect to be perfectly comfortable living in this for a couple months.
