how do you store your 5er

we will be moving, and would like to build a rv carport.
have a 30 Cardinal.
am thinking of a 14x38 ft garage. but not sure of how high
would be nice to open slides, but not real necessary

does it sound to big
thanks

  • I don't store my 5er alone. It has company. I think they swap travel storys when nobody is around.

  • We just put up a 'hay cover' 17+ X 44 for our TH. At present, all sides are open. It fits well but have to squeeze tight to side to allow awning to open.
  • Thanks all
definitely want to do it right
in Klamath Falls I have more cold than hot
  • Air vents would help although how much depends on air flow. I'm all rural and on a hill so I get lots of N/S air movement through the open sides.
My neighbor parked his new motor home in a fully enclosed trailer shed. In about two years most of the plastic and exterior rubber/vinyl parts started to discolor and harden due to no ventilation.

Some thing to consider...... My son, in Florida, has a three bay enclosed building with 12' wide rool up doors per his town's code for his 36' 5er/26' blue water fisher/air boat/etc. The building has two powered thermostat controlled fans that suck the heat out.
  • While it may not seem necessary to build big enough to open the slides now, you will wish you did afterward. Would be nice to clean, service and even have someone stay in it with enough room to open the slides. Just my $.02 though.
  • Building with HOA
cant have bottom part open. If I put those air vents around would that help

45x60 and it barely fits? I've got a 40' fifth wheel and about to have a 20x50 built. I'll be able to get completely under and all 5 slides open. At 45' wide I could pull my truck beside the camper.
  • My shed is 16' x 36' x 14' to the bottom of the door header. I left 4' open around the bottom on both sides for air circulation ....which also help with eliminating mud dauber problems.
When I back the trailer in I place it where I can have the bedroom and big slide open. Grandkids and great grand kids like to use it when their here.

  • I would build it to hold a 40' MH (if you have the room) in case you buy a larger one or in case you sell to someone who has a 40' MH.
