So I thought we were set on our new fiver. Price was marked down verrry low on a new 2014 KZ Sportsman 315 BHK. I am new to the RV world, thankfully someone on here pointed out this model only has a 970lbs. cargo carrying capacity! I am trying to get a gauge on how much weight I will be looking at, and if this is a unit I should walk away from because of this.I will be traveling with the wife and two toddlers. So besides clothes,couple tv's,plates,silverware,grill,misc. supplies not sure how much we will bring along. I'm sure the stuff will add up, but just seeing if just shy of 1,000lbs is reasonable to do.

For what it's worth, I just traded a 2015 travel trailer because it only had 1000lbs CCC. IMO, small CCC might work for weekend camping but is much harder to manage on longer trips. I got tired of constantly moving stuff from the camper to the bed of the truck and back again to stay within max weight. One thing to consider - water weighs 8.3lbs per gallon. Carrying even only 20 gallons for flushing, hand washing, etc will eat up nearly 170lbs. Only you can decide if this is something you can live with.

Empty weight of trailer in signature (according to Keystone's brochure, so no propane, battery, etc) was 6,454. On 22 May 2015, trailer weight (at wheels plus calculated pin weight) was 7,740. This is 235 lbs under the trailer's GVWR. Cargo is 1,286 lbs. We were packed for a 4-day weekend.My DW and I feel we travel pretty light. Fresh water tank no more than 1/2 full. No yard art to decorate, no extra lights to hang off trees. Two zero-gravity chairs and small folding table. No tent/awning to put over the park's picnic table, etc. A Weber Q grill. Basic box of tools. Bocce balls, few other games. I added a device that holds the spare under the trailer and have a custom fabricated receiver hitch welded to the frame in back.Hope this helps!

I would say I have around 1200 lbs in ours not including fresh water which add another 400-500 lbs. When we were first looking at fivers years ago we walked away from a Sierra 365SAQ do the 800lb ccc. The next year FR went to 7000 lb axels and tripled the ccc but we had already purchased another unit.

Were closer to 2500 pounds by the time I add propane, 4 golf cart batteries, washer, and our stuff. We do not really pack heavy, but we do load enough for comfortable living while on the road.

Thank you for the replies. I am nervous now about the cargo capacity. We will mostly be doing weekend trips,but I don't want to worry about weight problems. Just very surprised to see this with a fiver.

Full-timers also (just started!) - my camper had:

an advertised dry weight of 11,800
a yellow sticker weight of 12,200
an actual dry weighed weight of 12,400
before I full-timed, I ran about 14,800
with full-timing, I'm running about 16,000

The loaded weights are typically with 30-40 gallons of water on board. I actually need to dump off my water because the camper is over GVWR.

I have TH and, obviously, it is built to haul more weight. That said, I would never buy an FW that did not allow for at least 3,000 pounds.

We FT in ours...loaded for the road...4100 pounds. I weigh, then add water to ensure I am not over the trailer's 20k Max.

Just the two of us, and we only weekend or weekday camp 3 or 4 days in a row, plus maybe a 2 week once a year.

We have over 2000 lbs of cargo with tanks empty. Bloody amazing.

Luckily we have 3000 lbs of cargo capacity.

Our Gateway has about 2500lbs of ccc but we only carry about 1000lbs. We only camp for about a week at a time right now and have plenty of supplies.

My last MS weighed about 20K loaded.

The wife is a hoarder and admits it. Lots of jewelry components kitchen appliances. I have a air compressor along a lot of items in the basement. When you full time you tend to have a lot of "stuff".

We have A 24' Trail Cruiser with a listed dry weight of 4,980 lbs. We travel for months at a time, last time it was weighed full it was right at 7,000 lbs.
