How important is it to buy local?

Where I bought mine has a 2 month wait for service, if you bought it there. I checked a few other dealers in the area, one was about a week behind and would be glad to work on mine. We also have some independent repair shops, not dealers, and they have a fast turnaround.
I will never buy another from the place I bought my last one. Service is only one of the issues.
