How important is it to buy local?

Guess you return 3K miles to your local dealer, right?..:R

Find the best deal (price) you can from Anywhere, USA.

Shop that price with your local dealer/s.
Will the "locals" meet it - - or come close?

Then - *You* decide whether local or distant is right for you...:@
