How many pounds in your air bags?

How many pounds are people inflating their air bags up to prior to hooking up to your fifth wheel?

Just curious.

Thanks in advance.
  • Just realize that the pressure goes up as the load is applied. Firestone says a min of 5 lbs so that's what is in mine. After hitching I air up to 35-40 to level things out.

Nice and level with Zero pounds!

    No Bags needed! :B
  • I level the truck up under load. It runs about 30 psi.
  • I run 40psi in my Ride Rite Airbags but don't fill them until after I hook up. As above, I dont measure the Trail-Air pressure, just air it up to the mark. I tow a 32' Cedar Creek 2825lbs hitch weight with my 2000 F250. This allows me to tow level.

I have a 2012 Ford 350 Dually. I put 28lbs in the firestone airbags, to keep the suspension off the overlaod springs which are harsh as all get out. I air up AFTER I connect the FW.. (2850 pin weight) 2013 Keystone Alpine 3720 FB.

I also have a Trailair triglide pinbox, which I 'think' has about 50psi..(max 100) I don't pay attention to the PSI, just the alignment line
  • I'm interested in this too b/c I am about to install a set of the Firestone air bags on my truck.
  • I actually was inquiring about the suspension but now that you brought it up, I would like to know about the hitch also.

    Thanks.
  • Bags in what? (truck suspension, air hitch, air pin box) I have a 5th Airborne pin box. I checked with Reese and was told max 125psi. I usually put 100 in before hookup.
