How Much Down

I ordered a new 38RS Lifestyle, fully loaded. I gave them $5,000 down, which they were happy to except. Another dealer wanted 40% down. Only put down, what you are confortable with.

when we ordered our 5er , we gave $500.00 to order.. once in and we did the walk around we then put $15,000.00 down and financed the rest. The bottom line is that you need to do what you can afford... And by the way , shop around,, we went with our credit union got a lower rate..

OP here. Might be a moot point if the dealer has one coming in on order anyway, no need to special order.

Haven't picked a dealer yet, but leaning toward the local dealer with good reputation who provided a quote to the penny, rather than to the closest 1K....

Have you settled on a price yet? I would want to get something in writing. Hate to wait 6-8 weeks for a 5'er to show up only to have the dealer play games and not give you a decent deal. Emotions sometimes override good judgment.

Ok, we are (probably) ordering a Grand Design Reflection. It is a brand new model, and there really aren't options. There aren't many on dealer lots and none close to us. I think those that do arrive sell very quickly. The only actual issue will be the manufacturing change that provides clearance for 16" tires.

As for financing, that is not an issue.

Part of the answer might depend on what you are ordering. If it's an odd model or has some uncommon options it might be a lot more. The dealer may want to cover themselves in the event you change your mind so they don't get stuck with it. The money you pay down in most cases is not going to be refundable in the event you back out...

Good advice - as well as......

if you are financing your purchase, line-up your own financing in advance.

Or at minimum see if you can find a better rate than the dealer is offering. (The dealer gets a percentage of the financing for the length of the loan).

I have ordered many cars, trucks, and 3 RV's ranging from nothing down to $500.00 down to place the order. Keep the order money as low as possible in case the rig arrives wrong or something happens to the person/dealership your working with.

Dealer said 10%. Just have no idea how much we might be able to shave off the price quote. That too probably depends on the dealer.
