83trekker- your city water connection should have the one-way valve just inside where things broke off and this should keep your city water connections from squirting out water when using your on board fresh water tank and pump. If you can do this without squirting water out of the city water port perhaps you can put this off until you can get it fixed. Just use the fresh water tank and water pump instead for your upcoming trip...
