Mine also has the power fill. I didn't know that is what it was called. I should have stated it since it is part of my concern with filling.
I was thinking of using your method of filling and set it to a very low rate at 3/4 fill and watch the gauge.
I like the flow meter that Chopperbill mentioned and will order it.
