How to measure length of fifth wheel unit

Our 3055 is 35'5" exactly front nose to back bumper. That's what matters. Don't forget your height too. Post that on the inside of your windshield, driver's side, for quick reference.

Had an Avion 32.5 that was actually 32.5' from tip of front to tip of back. Every other has been about 1.5-2' longer than what the model says. Current 39TKSB3 is actually 41' tip to tip.

For my 317RL Wildcat says 36'1" in the broucher (must be from the hitch) because when I go from nose to bumper it is 38'

When describing your trailer to someone or info in your sig use the model number. That way others know what your trailers specs are.

My 5er has a 32'+ OAL but the model # is a 28RK. My trailers mfg did make a 32RK that same year and is 2200 lbs heavier.

When I built my trailer shed I measured like you did to find its OAL. And many rv parks/campgrounds may ask for your trailers length (some don't want the model number).

Most are measured from the inside wall to inside wall. If you have a closet, sometimes it is measured from the closet doors to the inside wall. In my case, it is listed as 37'8", in actuality, it is 40'6".

Model numbers really don't reflect any specific number.
Mine is a 293 FWSLS well we are 32' long, but with the slides out we are right about 293 sq. ft. of floor area.

It's a marketing tool. People will more likely buy the shorter unit if the floor plan suits their needs. One manufacturer started this and all rest followed soon thereafter. Oh look, all this room and closet space and it's under 30' when in reality it's over 32'. Our first 5th wheel was a 28RL and it was exactly 28 feet from the bumper to the king pin. Of course this was many years ago.

My 26 is 27 feet inside and 30 feet outside. Where did the 26 come from?

Only true means is to use a tape and measure it. The manufacturers model means zip.
