I would not do any repairs! They could get in the way of an easy settlement. Maybe it's time to bring up the threat of a lawsuit... Even if you try to patch this up, I'd have trouble trusting that something else would be or go wrong.
The only reason they (Lippert) even entertained talking to me was it was on some "Forest River List" that meant they admitted they messed up and used the wrong brackets for the gas tank. Otherwise I would have been promptly been shut down by the rude kid at the call center that initially told me "it's no longer in warranty." But they have quit responding to me totally though so my guess is they think I'll just go quietly.
Now if the dealer had done more than fix some paneling in the unit and inspected it further when the first "flex" stuff happened it might have been more critical but A) the dealer probably didn't want their inventory hurt as they were still selling FR, and B) Lippert probably didn't ask them to look any further.
Now what I'll do is go ahead and get to work. My bro-in-law who is a long time welder now big-time machinist dude (think oil rigs, car crushers, etc) is coming by so I can run my ideas by him (and if he offers assistance, I won't chase him away.)
But rest assured, I will update my NHTSB complain with everything I find, will do a BBB complaint (though I know that is a sham), and will put it all on the web. I don't know how much it will hurt them, but I hope it helps others.
We're also presently getting ready to look at some Arctic Fox units too. You can bet even though I hear they are a more quality unit, I'll be doing serious inspection if I ever get serious about anything from here on out though. Well, unless I find out something I check out is a Lippert, than I'll not even give it a time of day (and I'll also tell any sales people not to even try and pitch anything Lippert my way to save both of our time.)
