I need a new fuel tank 60x19x7

Long time for me not posting, I hope everyone is doing okay.

Can someone point me to a gas tank provider? The fuel station/generator tank on my Transport is disintegrating. One of the folks I talked to couldn't believe it has a plastic tank, said he never saw one in a TH. I guess metal is the way to go. size is 60"x19"x7" all the measurements have some 'wiggle room' see pics.

Any suggestions?

  • Great job gandude thanks for sharing your success!
  • Guess I got lucky, the tank doesn't seem to be bad.

I removed the tank, hoses, mount and pump. I cleaned the inside with SuperClean and removed the fittings. The parts that dissolved were the two fuel pickup tubes, they were shredded like angel hair pasta.

this is what they looked like, mine are gone but this guy had the same issue; Skip to 1:18 for the tube

I rebuilt the pump with new gears and seals though it was working fine:

and painted the rusting metal mounting frame.

All of the hoses were very brittle, this was a fairly large expense as I bought ethanol proof hoses. Waiting on the Husky UL listed fuel hose.
  • Fyi, if you need a fuel tank.

    This company

Has an almost perfect metal tank to replace my old one....

    This might help other folks...
  • While we're talking tanks & fuel, what is everyone using to keep their pump handles clean?

I lost my old Nozzle Condom and Nozzle Mitt when I sold my old WW. Nozzlecondom.com is out of business.
  • a plastic fuel tank? That's crazy. Yes, we have plastic fuel tanks on bikes, but that's max. 5 gallons. A competent welder can make you one, they should have baffles for strength and to prevent sloshing if possible.
