Somehow I wish that the manufactures would start putting on 17 or 18" rims at the factory, along with disk brakes, and axles rated at at least a couple hundred pounds more than the unloaded vehicle weight.
The 2005 and later Ford trucks come with reasonable priced 18" rims and tires rated around 3,500 pounds each. 17.5" rims are rated upwards of 5,500 pounds with many tires to match it's ratings. and if they would use dually outside tire (like in the front tire position) then they can put the brakes within the space of the rim, so that the wheelwell is as skinny as possible.
