I have a 2005 Duramax and I have the 2005 manual... For some reason, in that year (unlike other years) the manual does not indicate what the 5th wheel max trailer weight is, only the bumper pull.
It appears your particular truck has a GCWR of 16,000 lbs, which means that your total trailer weight for a 5th wheel is 16,000 lbs less the weight of your truck after it is loaded with people and hitch, which is still probably close to the 9900 lbs towing capacity (or 10,100 if your have the 2 wheel drive version).
It also appears it is the engine that limits your GCWR in this case. With the same configuration as your truck but with a 8.1 engine, the GCWR jumps to 22,000 lbs, offering a lot more towing capacity.
In your case, you may have the payload capacity for the 5th wheel units you're considering (if not very close), just not the GCWR to tow them with that engine.
