I also installed a TST 507RV system on mine this year. Really like being able to check the pressures as I am driving.
As far as the temps, I guess there has to be some slight air circulation thru the stem into the sensor to monitor the temps. And that would seem to make for some cooling of the air. So not sure the temp reading is really too close to the actual tire temp. I used to use an infrared temp gun and the temps showed quite a bit higher. But as stated, consistency of readings is probably the most important thing. Mine on the shady side read just about the same as the ambient air temp, even at 65-70 mph. The ones on the sunny side read 8-10 degrees higher. With the temp gun they would run maybe 10-15 degrees higher than those on both sides.
