That said, maybe the reason for the higher temperature the laser gun reads is because its picking up the tires surface temperature, which would make sense since its black and the direct sun on the tire would cause a laser temperature gun to read a higher temp than a tire sitting in the shade.
Exactly, internal air temps are less than external, but the TST system temp alert is pre-set at 157 degrees giving plenty of safety cushion before a tire will fail from heat. Enjoy the peace of mind knowing your now monitoring the tires 100% of the time, not just when you got around to checking them in the past.
