Installing new "D" weather stripping on slidewout

Am in pursuit of information on the correct way to clean and install new 'D' shaped weather stripping. Have purchased new white "D" shaped weather stripping which is about 1" wide and high. Has the...

I did mine two days ago. Got as much of the old off as possible with sharp scraper and spray bottle with Acetone. I didn't get it all but applied the new D seal and it stuck perfectly, no problem.
