excel has had enough problems with their slides leaking and causing floor problems to not give me a good feeling I would buy this model because of the extra stress walking in and out plus a extra heavy person coming to visit adding stress on the slide. I might be wrong .

Larry,
I wrote to Bryan @ PI to ask questions regarding the slide door entry. He assured me that the slide door opening has been reinforced. Also the step set up created by Mike Nebel, has adjustable and fairly strong legs and pads to absorb bulk of the load, not the slide walls. When Bryan was demoing the stairs on the live video showing, he stepped on the first step and jumped up and down on it and it appeared quite stable. Actually much more stable than a conventional step set up. Also with the stair mounting in the stowed position, the entry door can only open to 90*. Bryan explained if you needed to open all the way (moving in or out furniture, etc.) the step assy. can be removed with only 12 #10 screws. I'm not a fan of the look of the step assy. when stowed, but that may be cause it looks so different. We'll see how this all works out in due time. I have to admit when I first look at this set up I was quite skeptical....but now feeling better about it. rockin'
Hi Tom I said I could be wrong. I can't see the real need for it but maybe change is a good thing.
