CHPs here in Cali will allow vehicles a little more over the limit. Ive had numerous radar traps let me pass on going 63 while towing.

I pull at 70. If I need to speed up to pass I will, but 70' is pretty reasonable. Of course in Oklahoma the 2 lanes are set at 65, but toll road is 75 and normal interstate 70.

65mph is the lowest speed my truck will shift to 6th and lock up. The cruise is fairly responsive at that speed too.

If I have to spin up to 80 to clear some traffic, I will.

Fuel 'economy' is c**p at any speed.

Most of places I tow have a 55 or 60 mph limit to which I adhere. In locations where the speed limit is more than 65 mph, I keep my speed at 65 but may let it build up to 70 on a gentle downgrade if the road is straight. My tires are rated for 65 mph but are one load range higher than required, so I do not have a problem rolling a little faster on occasion but never for an extended period.

At higher speeds, I do hold top gear longer on climbs at the expense of fuel mileage. I averaged 8 mpg in UT, CO, NM and AZ at 65 mph through some higher elevation climbs with winds but can get 10 mpg when driving similar between 55-60 mph. I have pretty low gearing and a large draft, so keeping speeds down may make more of difference than what others see.

I usually just set my cruise control at 62 MPH when I can or just use my foot to control my speed depending on the terrain and traffic. I've had a few blow outs and I'm glad I wasn't going any faster!!

Count me in for 58 to 62 speed limit permitting. Have GY Endurance on the trailer and GY All Terrain on the truck.

Goodyear Endurance rated 87mph on the camper.

Long open roads with little or no traffic = cruising speeds 70-80mph is fine for me as my rig is setup for it.
