Intro & Question

Hello guys & gals i am Raven67 i hail from south La. between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. I'm looking forward to gathering valuable info from people who have been there done that ! So da speak . lol. And hopefully be able to share my own xperience some day as i am new to this lifestyle. My first question is that as stated i have an 04 mobile scout titan 31bwfs . Long story short i do not have a truck to pull it yet. I bought the carriage before the horse. The sticker with all the weight ratings etc. is faded to where i cannot read it. So i don't know what size truck i'm gonna need. I'll post that Question in the tow vehicle section. Just wondering if anybody knows how i can get the correct info for this model. It has a onan 5500 gen. in the front compartment as well. Thanks. ( ps. i know these models are on the heavy side to begin with. I just don't know how heavy. )

  • Have someone take you to a CAT scale. First pull on and get the ticket showing the weight on the trucks front axle, back axle, and trailer. CATs have 3 weigh points so you'll get those three on one pull thru. Now pull around and drop the trailer off in the parking lot. Pull on the scales a second time to get the trucks weight. Each weigh ticket will show total weight all axles. The diff between the two tickets total weight is the trailer weight. The diff between the sum of the truck axles with trailer attached vs. the sum of the truck axles no trailer represents the trailers tongue weight.
  • The NADA guide shows a weight of 10007 lbs, but I agree a trip to a CAT scale is the best way to get an accurate weight.
  • With a ten year old trailer, there is no telling what modifications may have been made (in addition the genny) so factory weights are really questionable.

A trip across the scales it the only real way to get an answer.
  • Get someone with a Dually truck to haul it to the nearest certified scales and weigh all FW and TV axles. Then weigh the TV only. Do some math and then you will know your weights. If you have not filled it up with your things yet add 3K to the load with 1K to the pin weight or more.
