Is a long bed a requirement for pulling a 5th wheel?

Looks like we're going to switch to a 5th wheel so I need to buy a truck. Do I need a long (8') bed or will a short (6'4") bed be sufficient. Im not worried about other cargo and the short bed would b...

Neither does a stock HPCR 5.9L or 6.7L Cummins like my 2011. Now, if you want loud, take a VP-44 injected 24 valve Cummins with bigger injectors, advanced timing, an open air filter and a 4" (or larger) straight piped exhaust, but that's NOT representative of current stock Cummins diesels.
